A donk bet is when the player out of position bets into the preflop aggressor before they have a chance to c-bet. The name comes from "donkey" because it was historically considered a weak play.

Donk betting is situational, not universally bad. Donk on boards that favor your range, when you hit hard on low boards, or when villain checks back too often. But generally, check-raising remains the primary OOP weapon.
